Iwan Wyn Rees is a lecturer in the School of Welsh, Cardiff University. He joined the School in 2012 following his appointment as Research Fellow on projects focusing on learners' pronunciation difficulties in the Welsh for Adults field. Previously, at Aberystwyth University, he received AHRC funding which enabled him to research certain Welsh regional dialects. He was awarded a doctorate in 2013 for his study of phonological variations in two specific areas, namely Harlech (where he was brought up) and Bro Dysynni (the area around Tywyn, Meirionnydd), and he has published several academic articles based on that study (in Studia Celtica, Gwerddon and Journal of Celtic Linguistics). Iwan has received funding from the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol to create two specific resources; one for actors and scriptwriters, and the other for Welsh tutors in Patagonia.
