Dr Lisa Sheppard received her doctorate from Cardiff University for a thesis exploring the relationship between otherness, bilingualism, and multiculturalism in contemporary fiction from south Wales. She previously graduated from Cardiff with a BA in Welsh and English Literature, and an MPhil in Creative Writing. She currently works for Cardiff University’s School of Welsh as a Research Associate on ‘The Welsh Language in Cardiff’ project having previously worked in the School as a Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Lecturer in Welsh. Her interests include literary theory and criticism, the novel in Wales (in both Welsh and English), literary portrayals of Cardiff, and multiculturalism in minority language communities.
