Arwyn Edwards

Dr Arwyn Edwards is Lecturer in Biological Sciences (Welsh Medium) Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences and member of the Centre for Glaciology at Aberystwyth University. After his first degree in Microbiology (England, 2005), he presented his doctorate (Aberystwyth, 2009) on microbial biodiversity in relation to High Arctic glaciers; discovered evidence of close links between the structure and function of supraglacial microbial communities and glacial dynamics, as well as ancient microeukaryotic biodiversity surviving on glaciers worldwide. Now his research focuses on integrating metagenomics, metabolomics, microbial physiology and biogeochemical dynamics modeling to understand glacial glacial ecosystems worldwide.
