Manon Mathias


Dr Manon Mathias is a lecturer in French at the University of Bangor. After a year as a French lecturer at Worcester College, Oxford, she was awarded her doctorate by Oxford University in 2011. Her main research interest is the French novel in the nineteenth century, especially the novels of George Sand (1804-76). Her DPhil focused on Sand's perspective on the connection between vision and understanding. Having won the Saunders Lewis Scholarship in 2007, she completed a research project comparing George Sand and Gustave Flaubert's correspondence with Kate Roberts and Saunders Lewis' letters. Her current research focus is the relationship between the natural sciences and literature in the nineteenth century.
