Gwawr Ifan is a teaching fellow at the School of Music, Bangor University. She comes originally from the Preselau area of Pembrokeshire, but has now been living in north-west Wales since 2004 when she came to Bangor University to study for a BMus. She continued her postgraduate studies at Bangor University after winning a 5-year scholarship from the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. She received an MA in 2009 with her thesis which looked at Music with Criminals suffering from Mental Illness. Her chief field of research is Music in Health and Welfare, and is now in the process of completing her doctorate which is looking at Music in Health and Welfare in Wales.
