Diarmait Mac Giolla Chríost

Dr Diarmait Mac Giolla Chríost is a Reader in the School of Welsh, Cardiff University. He is a native of Ireland and an authority on linguistic minorities and linguistic planning. His research interests cover a number of fields, including the nature of the relationship between language and conflict, from a comparative, European, perspective, and also language in the context of the city, from a comparative and international perspective. Among his publications are Language, Identity and Conflict (Routledge), The Irish Language in Ireland from Goídel to Globalisation (Routledge) and Language and the City (Palgrave Macmillan). He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Historical Society.
