Originally from Merthyr Tydful, Aled Isaac studied physics at the University of Wales, Swansea. He completed his PhD at Swansea University whilst working with the department's experimental physics group. He then went on to become a postdoctoral research officer, before being appointed as a lecturer in the department, partly funded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. Aled Isaac is now a senior lecturer in the department, carrying out antimatter research in Swansea and also as part of the ALPHA collaboration based at CERN in Geneva.
