Dr Sharon Huws is a Lecturer in Animal Science with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol at Aberystwyth University. After completing A Levels at Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi, Sharon graduated with a degree in Zoology from Bangor University in 1998 then earned a Master's degree in parasitology and entomology at the University of Liverpool before moving to Manchester to study for a PhD on protist interaction with bacterial communities. After a period in Bath, she moved to Aberystwyth as a staff member of the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research to work as a rumen microbiologist. Sharon has 25 original paper in journals that are externally assessed and over 40 conference publications. She has also been directly awarded over two hundred thousand pounds of research income.
