W. Gwyn Lewis

Wrth gyhoeddi ei Strategaeth Addysg Cyfrwng Cymraeg yn Ebrill 2010, nododd Llywodraeth Cynulliad Cymru bod y system addysg Gymraeg wedi chwarae rôl arweiniol ym maes addysg ddwyieithog ledled Ewrop a’r byd yn ystod yr hanner can mlynedd diwethaf. Wrth i’r gyfundrefn ddatblygu yn sgîl y cynnydd yn niferoedd y disgyblion sy’n dymuno addysg ddwyieithog yng Nghymru, pwysleisir ei bod yn hanfodol i ni gadw golwg ar y patrymau a’r modelau sydd ar gael mewn cymunedau dwyieithog eraill sy’n llwyddo i integreiddio dwyieithrwydd neu amlieithrwydd yn eu darpariaeth er mwyn i ni ddeall eu perthnasedd i’n sefyllfa benodol ni yng Nghymru. Mae’r erthygl hon yn bwrw golwg dros y datblygiadau diweddaraf ym maes addysg ddwyieithog ar y llwyfan rhyngwladol gan ystyried beth yw’r prif negeseuon sy’n eu hamlygu eu hunain wrth i addysg o’r fath barhau i ddatblygu i ateb anghenion disgyblion mewn cymunedau dwyieithog ac amlieithog ledled y byd yn yr unfed ganrif ar hugain.
